Spatial Tradeoffs in Massachusetts Waters

Massachusetts is undergoing a planning process to implement Marine Spatial Planning, as directed by recent legislation. This project evaluates how proposed offshore wind energy facilities would affect the value of tourism (whale watching) and fisheries (lobster and groundfish) activities in the area, and explores spatially-explicit management solutions that optimize the delivery of all three ecosystem services.

Project Leads: Ben Halpern, Carrie Kappel
